Work As Worship-Part 3: Rest Makes Work “Work”

Preacher:
Passage: Gen 1-2; Ex 20; Deut 5; Matt 11:28-30

Bible Text: Gen 1-2; Ex 20; Deut 5; Matt 11:28-30 | Preacher: Kyle Kaurin | Series: 2018 Sermons, Work as Worship | The concept of Rest from work was introduced in Genesis when God rested from His work of Creation. For us, the purpose of this rest, or Sabbath, is not simply to rejuvenate so we can produce more (at work). Its purpose is to enjoy God and to enjoy life in general, along with what we have accomplished in the world through His help. It’s to enjoy the freedom you have in the gospel – the freedom from slavery to any material object or human expectation. The Sabbath is a sign of the hope that we have in the world to come. This is why we must choose to rest.
